Podcast name generator
Describe the show in a sentence or two. You get ten names, each with a note on the angle it takes, so you can tell which direction appeals before you commit.
Check these before you commit
A name is the most expensive thing to change later. It is in your feed, your artwork, your URL, and every directory listing. Before you settle:
- Search it in Apple Podcasts and Spotify. If a show with that name already exists in your subject area, you will spend years being the other one.
- Say it to someone. If they ask you to spell it, that is your answer. Word of mouth is most of podcast discovery and it is entirely spoken.
- Check the domain and the handles. Not because you need them today, but because finding out later is how shows end up with four different names across five places.
- Read it as a search result. Someone half-remembers you and types two words into a search box. Are those words in your name?
Names that age badly
Anything with a year or a number in it. Anything that names your current job or city, unless you are certain about both. And any pun that needs the spelling explained, which is the same test as saying it out loud.
Once it has a name, it needs episodes
